Chapter 397
Stephanie's words were quite tactical, as if implying that if she didn’t drink it, it would make her look guilty, like
she had malicious intentions.
Unable to tolerate her suspicion, William was about to lift it to drink and prove his innocence when Milly stopped
him with her hand.
“Boss?” William asked.
Milly chuckled coldly, then lifted her gaze towards Stephanie, who was standing by with a self-righteous attitude.
She stood up slowly and walked over.
Her gaze was filled with intense menace, causing Stephanie to involuntarily shrink back. “What are you going to
do?”
Before she could finish speaking, Milly firmly grasped her chin and promptly fed a spoonful of bitter medicine
into her mouth. She only released her grip after ensuring that Stephanie had swallowed it.
“You're lucky. | spent quite stbrewing this medicine,” she remarked coldly.
Stephanie clutched her chest, coughing incessantly, though the medicine had already gone down, leaving only
saliva to cough up. “Cough, cough, cough... Milly! How dare you forceto drink this garbage!”
Clearly, Milly's actions had thoroughly infuriated Stephanie, who, in her rage, had forgotten they were still live
streaming.
Milly smirked, her lips curling slightly. “Garbage? This is your brother's life-saving medicine. How dare you call it
garbage?”
There was a flash of fierceness in Stephanie’s eyes, as if she wanted to annihilate the person in front of her on
the spot. “You did that on purpose!”

Milly chuckled. “Wasn't it you who raised the question in the first place? Wasn't it you who didn’t believe? If | had
drunk it, you would have said | faked it or that | didn’t swallow it at all.
“Aren’t you finding it annoying to keep going back and forth with this? That's why having you personally taste it
is the best solution. Stephanie, I've gone to great lengths to prove this medicine is safe. Yet you keep insisting
that | did it on purpose. What exactly are you trying to imply? Are you trying to smear my reputation?”
Stephanie’s usual tactic was to provoke others and then act like an innocent victim to garner sympathy.
Then, tit for tat.
Hehe, now that I've played her role, let's see how she finds a way out of this. Milly chuckled to herself.
Stephanie wasn’t stupid. Upon hearing the implied threat, she calmed down and glanced at the camera, still
flashing red. She forcefully swallowed the curses that were on the tip of her tongue.
No, | can't afford to openly confront Milly right now.
First, she hadn't firmly established her status in the Lloyd family yet, and her relationship with them wasn’t deep.
If the Lloyds found out she embarrassed them on the show, it'd surely upset them.
Second, she was staying in this place thanks to Milly. Even if Milly didn’t favour her, as long as they didn’t openly
fall out, especially on a live show, Milly wouldn't kick her out.
Stephanie took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the bitter taste that threatened to make her gag from the
medicine she had just swallowed. When she spoke again, she returned to her usual pitiful demeanour.
“Milly, I'm sorry. | was really worried about my brother just now. We grew up together and have always been
close. Seeing him like this madeso anxious that I lost control. | didn’t mean it.”
With tears welling up in her eyes, her pitiful appearance made it hard for anyone to blher.
If the timing had been right, Milly would have wanted to applaud her.
It was really a big loss for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs not to have hired her. She could turn black into white,
make the dead seem alive, and twist facts upside down. Such an ability to distort the truth and mislead was
probably unmatched nationwide!
She was truly living up to the protagonist crafted with such care by the ist. Her halo shone so brightly that
even in such situations, she managed to cout unscathed. She certainly knew how to navigate tricky
situations.
Milly chuckled. “So, can | give Matthew the medicine now?”
With tear-filled eyes, Stephanie nodded cautiously. “Of course, | trust you, Milly.”
Milly replied with a wry smile, “Hehe.”
Her change in demeanour is impressively fast.
It wasn’t clear if Milly was disgusted by the brother-sister love that Stephanie had just played in front of her or if
she remembered Matthew's cold and indifferent attitude towards her before, so she pinched his mouth and
poured the herbal remedy instead of feeding it into his mouth.
Fortunately, the physical cooling methods worked a bit. Matthew now had a bit of awareness and knew to
swallow the medicine that reached his mouth.
Seeing that he had swallowed some, Milly stood up. “Okay, I'll cback later to check. The fever should go
down.”
At that moment, outside the bamboo house.
Charlie was wearing medical-grade latex gloves he had pulled out from who knows where, handling the seafood
they had brought back.
Suddenly, a pair of long, slender legs appeared in front of him.

The owner of the legs didn’t seem to have any intention of squatting down to help. Instead, she stood there
haughtily, her voice laced with faint disgust. “These seafood, did you bring them all back?”
Charlie didn’t respond, his expression indifferent as he continued with his task.
Hannah was furious at being ignored by ordinary people. After making sure there were no cameras around, she
raised her voice a few notches. “I'm talking to you. Did you hear me?”
Charlie finally seemed to hear her, responding in a cold voice, “What do you want?”
Hannah sneered. “I thought you were so proud, but | guess not.”
Seeing that Charlie was now paying attention, she got straight to the point. “Do you like Milly? | suggest you kill
that thought. Don’t delude yourself into thinking you can date her. You're not worthy!”
Her voice was full of arrogance, the typical attitude of a haughty heiress.
She was confident in her observation. This little celebrity in front of her was obviously trying to curry favour with
Milly. His eager behaviour was a clear sign of interest.
Since William was into Milly and William was her future brother-in-law, she felt it was her duty as an elder to
ensure her future relative’s happiness.
So, she had to warn this aspiring artist not to overstep his boundaries.
As she expected, after hearing her words, Charlie paused his actions. “Why?”
In his memory, he didn’t recall Hannah having a particularly close relationship with Milly. Now she was suddenly
warning him about this.
What was her deal?
Hannah sneered and didn’t bother to hide her intentions. “Because William is into Milly, and you can’t compete
with him.”
