Chapter 0014 Chapter 0014 Ella POV The plan for the engagement dinner ctogether quickly, thanks to my father's help. He arranged for the best tables at the best restaurant and even ordered expensive wine ahead of time.
He was relieved to have a chance to remedy things with David's family.
I had made David's father very angry recently, and even though I knew that my father was on my side, it was still difficult for him to deal with another angry alpha. He had to try to keep the peace.
I felt bad for putting him in such a position. I would make it up to him in the end, though. I would make sure that David and his pack couldn't drag us down to their level.
It had been a busy week for me, so it felt strange to be preparing for a nice dinner out with my family.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtI had worked hard with my father to review the operations of the pack from top to bottom. Everything wast running smoothly, and I had found nothing suspicious about anyone.
Whoever the traitor was, it was possible that they were already exchanging information with David and Amanda, but it didn't seem like any harm had been done just yet. I needed to remain vigilant at all times; if I let my guard down, something terrible could happen.
But at the moment, there was nothing else I could do. I just had to wait.
The only concerning thing I had learned about the pack was that we had expanded so much in the past few years that our food production was struggling to keep up. This forced my father to import more than we ever had before.
When I pointed this out to my father, he seemed shocked by exactly how high the number of imports was. He also seemed impressed that I had noticed and complimentedfor stepping into the leadership role so well already.
"You're going to be a wonderful leader sday," he said I felt like crying when I heard those words. I wanted to prove myself to him and make him proud. I was so relieved that he believed that I could do it.
Things really were going well for me, and I hoped that tonight would be another step in the right direction. I wanted out of my engagement with David so badly.
I didn't know how much longer I would be able to stomach spending twith him. Every the touched me, I thought of the moment he ordered my death. It was awful.
If I could expose the truth about him and Amanda, his pack would be the ones humiliated, not mine.
I thought out every detail of the plan that I could. I chose the most popular restaurant in the city because I wanted to make sure that as many people as possible saw what was going to happen. I wanted to be sure that David's family couldn't easily cover it up.
I booked a table for Alexander; he was supposed to arrive afew minutes before us so that it wouldn't look too suspicious that he was there.
I thought about wearing the dress that Amanda picked out for me. I tried it on and looked at myself in the mirror, but I couldn't quite bring myself to wear it, at least not the way it was.

1 was relieved when we stepped into the restaurant and I saw that everything was exactly as I needed it to be. I spotted Alexander at the fable I had reserved for him, but didn't let my gaze linger.
We'd only been inside for a moment when David and his parents walked in the door. My father greeted them, and they made their way to us.
They were all dressed very nicely, and I could tell that David's mother, Lily, had spent a long ton her makeup and hair. David looked around, and I saw the disappointment in his face Amanda wasn't here yet. He must have been looking for her.
I would be lying if I said it didn't hurt to see just how obvious his love for her was. I must have really been love- struck not to have seen it before, or maybe I was just plain aive. Either way, I wouldn't have to worry about it after tonight.
Soon, everyone was going to see exactly what was going on between David and Amanda.
"I don't understand why you had to choose a restaurant so far away," David's father complained. "We can get food just as nice in either of our pack territories" I smiled. “This is the most famous restaurant in the capital I thought it would be a nice change,” I said.
An employee recognized us, greeted us politely, and then started to lead us to our table. As we walked through the restaurant, David must have noticed Alexander, who was sitting at a small table by himself.
David wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled ine close. As we neared Alexander, he said in a loud, pompous tone, "Why are you eating alone? Don't you always have sbeauty by your side when you're in the capital?" Alexander looked at David and smirked slightly. "Like I said before, I'm in love, so I won't be dating anymore." David stopped walking, and I watched as our parents went ahead without us and took their seats. "Is that a joke?" David asked, "Or just a lie to help your campaign?" "I'm very serious," Alexander replied, and judging by the look on his face, it was true-he was a very good actor.
