DENNIS

| pushed the door to the bar open, my head aching, swirling with thoughts of how I could have out that money

into something better, how I could trace the bastard and make him pay for swindling us.

| usually do not let things get to me. | hate to get riled up or angry which was why | always tried to control my

cool. But this past months have been trying. Each day, my patience got tested.

But this was one was the worst of it all. It was the final blow that madeerupt. A hundred fucking dollars! How

do | even account for that? How do | retrieve all the working assets that | sold? There just was no way | wouldn't

be stressed. | was mentally stressed, physically stressed. | was stressed in every possible way.

| had been scowling at literally everyone that was unfortunate enough to look my way since | left where Cole and

I had met.

This bar was filled to the brim as usual. It was the bubbliest of my bars and it was the one that yielded the most

profit. This sounds of clinking glasses, laughter and chatters always brightened my mood but not this time.

| wanted to yell at everyone and order them out so | could have the place to myself. So | could walkow in my loss

without prying eyes and irritating noise.

"Welcsir."

"Thank you," | bit out harshly as the manager of the branch stoped before me. | barely glanced at him as |

continued the heavy walk to the stairs. | hoped that he would pick up that | was no in the mood to listen to any

report or stupid complaint and just get away. But he followed me. | gritted my teeth but | remained silent. | heard

his footsteps as they seemed closer and closer and...

"Sir, 1 w-"

"What is it do you have to say that can not wait?" | turned around sharply and snapped. "I just got back. The

reports or whatever you have to say can wait."

He swallowed. "I'm sorry, sir," he muttered. | could see the surprise in his eyes and | could feel other eyes on me

as the room grew quieter than normal.

None of them had ever heardraise my voice or snap at them like this. The exact reason why he didn't read

into my mood.

"Get out of my sight," | murmured as | turned away from him and continued my journey up the stairs, headed for

my office.

Without turning back, | threw the door close and dragged myself to my seat. | dropped into it and dropped my

head on my table, my eyes closed. I could still remember how | had sold those properties. Sof their prices

weren't even worth but | wanted to get the money so that | could invest early. If only-

My thoughts were cut off when I heard the door open.

Goddammit! Do this people not get it? Stay the fuck away. Do | have to yell at each one of them before they

listen?

| looked up, my brows furrowed heavily, ready to snap at whoever it was to get lost.

When my gaze met hers, | let out a quiet hiss as | relaxed back in the seat and rest my head on the back of the

chair. "What do you want, Tabitha?"

"Are you okay?" She asked queitly as she further walked into my office, closing the door with a definite click

behind her.

"Why are you here?" | gritted out, trying to stop my voice from rising.

There was a minute of silence and | imagined her wringing her hands together, biting her lower lip as she

gathered her words.

"You didn't really look fine when you cin. | just thought to ccheck if you're okay."

"I'm fine. You can leave now," | clipped.

| yearned to hear her receding footsteps but there was no sound. The room was just bathed in silence and | was

still painfully aware of her presence. "Are you sure?" Her voice sounded closer and | could tell that she had

moved closer to my desk. "You don't really look fine to me. What happened?" | scoffed, shaking my head. "Oh,

Tabitha, you crackup," | said with a straight face.

| turned to her, my brows arched, my main aim to intimidate her and get her to flee out of here.

"What right do you think you have to

Venet

askthose questions?" My lips tightened as | waited for her response, then | added, "Or even worry about me?

Why do you think you can just assthat | don't look fine? Tell me."

She flinched back at my tone, staring atwith surprise in her eyes. She opened her mouth to speak but |

interrupted her.

"I'm listening, Tabitha, tell me. What right do you have to cin without knocking?"

"I'm sorry," she said. "I just," she

shrugged, "just know you are going throughout a difficult tand | kinda know how to get people out of stress

just want to help." she

added, "I can help if you let me."

| took a deep breath, calming myself.

Calm down, Dennis. She isn't the one that swindled you.

QUMS

| turned to her, boring her face with my gaze. She was going to help if she could, | knew it. But no one could help

But | still asked her anyway, "Can you bring back the $100,000 that was lost?"

Her brows drew down as she looked atlike | was headless. "Huh?"

"Can you helpget out of that stress? Can you relieve that?"

"Huh?" She repeated then she licked her lips and quickly added. "It's not impossible." She shrugged with one

take

of her shoulders. "It just one

time."
