Chapter 314 An Unexpected Encounter at the Hospital Kelvin leaned in, his handsface inches from hers.
"Ah!" Penelope jolted awake, sitting up in bed with a scream.
She was gasping for air, her eyes unfocused, and drenched in sweat like she'd just been pulled from a pool. Her hair clung to her face, and her back was soaked.
She stared blankly at her surroundings for a moment before shaking off the fog and coming back to reality. This was the house she'd lived in for four years.
That peaceful little city.
She hadn't gone back to LA, hadn't seen Kelvin, and no one knew she was alive! It was just a dream! Penelope closed her eyes, swallowed, and wiped the sweat from her face.
"Thank goodness it was just a dream..." she muttered, "False alarm." Ruby knocked on the door. "Penelope, what's wrong? Are you okay?" "I'm fine!" Penelope called back, getting out of bed. "How's Lucy?" "She's still coughing, and the medicine isn't helping. Plus, her gums are bleeding." Penelope's heart sank. She rushed to Lucy's room.
Lucy was sitting on the bed, her little face flushed, coughing non-stop.
She held a tissue to her mouth, which quickly turned red with blood.
"Mommy, I'm bleeding," she said, "My mouth is swollen." "Lucy, letsee." Penelope examined her gums, which were red and bleeding.
What was going on? "We need to go to the hospital," Penelope said, dressing Lucy quickly. "This is serious." Ruby nodded. "Okay, I'll go with you." "No, you take Sam to preschool first." "Mommy, Ruby, I can go by myself," Sam said, standing at the door. "It's close, and I know the way!" "Sam." "I won't talk to strangers, Mommy. Trust me!" Penelope, feeling the urgency, nodded. "Alright, but don't wander off." "Okay!" Penelope carried Lucy out the door.
On the way to the hospital, Lucy leaned against Penelope, looking pale.

It was all her fault for not taking care of herself during pregnancy, leading to Lucy's weak immune system now.
"Mommy," Lucy sniffled. "I'm causing you trouble again. You and Ruby take care ofday and night, and you don't get any rest." "Don't say that. We all want you to get better soon." Penelope kissed Lucy's forehead.
The car sped down the road, and as soon as they arrived at the hospital, Penelope headed straight for pediatrics.
Shortly after she entered the hospital, a black Mercedes pulled up at the entrance.
The car door opened, revealing a silver-haired man wearing a mask, with deep, dark eyes.
With his handsfurrowed brows, dressed in a shirt and trousers, he naturally exuded an air of elegance.

"Mr. Davis," Ryan said, "This is the best hospital in the area." Kelvin coughed lightly into his fist. "Let's go in." "You should take smedicine first and see if it helps. If not, we need to head back and get the family doctor to check you in LA." Kelvin was coughing.
He couldn't tell if he was just unused to the environment, or if the air quality was truly poor.
Even the best hotel here didn't meet Kelvin's standards.
He hadn't slept all night, uncomfortable, sitting in the suite's living room working on his laptop. Then, at dawn, he started coughing.
The hospital reeked of disinfectant, people were bustling around, and the air was stuffy.
Kelvin stood out in the crowd, drawing countless stares.
He headed to the respiratory department.
It was on the third floor.
The hospital elevator was packed, with long lines. Kelvin, used to private elevators, couldn't possibly squeeze in with others, so he opted for the stairs.
The pediatric clinic was right across from the second-floor stairwell! Kelvin stepped up the stairs, his eyes slightly downcast, indifferent to everything around him.
After seeing the doctor, he needed to visit Ben.
If Molly didn't show up, he had to leave.
He would cback next time.
Right now, Penelope was like a superwoman.
She was getting numbers, queuing for registration, and shuttling back and forth at the entrance of pediatric clinic. She was ready to pay with medical records and test sheets. She had left in a hurry, without even washing her face, simply dressed in a T-shirt, pants, and sneakers, her hair flowing smoothly behind her, looking petite and thin, like a college student.
She had always loved dressing like this.

She was in such a rush, and with people coming and going at them entrance of pediatric
clinic, Penelope only focused on moving forward and accidentallyn e bumped into a small child. The child had just learned to walk, wobbled a bit, and then fell to the ground.
"Waah-" The child pouted and started crying.
"Sorry." Penelope quickly apologized, bending down to help the child up, "I'm sorry." Having raised two children, she was very experienced.
Luckily, she had scandies in her bag that Sam had left behind.
Penelope took it out and handed it to the child. "Here, have ssweets, be good." The child stopped crying immediately upon seeing the candy.
Penelope sighed in relief, and continued towards the payment window.
Her figure flashed past the open fire door at the stairwell.
Like a gust of wind.
Just for a couple of seconds.
And Kelvin had just stepped onto the last stair of the second floor.
He only saw a delicate figure with flowing long hair walking ahead.
Quickly.
Among the crowd, she stood out, her figure striking.
Even in such simple attire, he could imagine her beauty and gentleness.
"Mr. Davis? Mr. Davis?" Ryan noticed him stop and was puzzled. "The respiratory department is on the third floor, we need to go up one more level." Kelvin asked calmly, "Did you see that?" "Huh? See what?" Ryan looked around in confusion.
