Chapter 634 Bradley took a deep breath, nodding one moment and shaking his head the next.

Everett impatiently tapped his fingers on the table. "Con, cut to the chase just tellwhat's going on!"

He was clearly in a foul mood, his whole posture radiating tension.

Wiping the sweat off his forehead, Bradley started spilling everything he knew.

"Mr. Everett, you might not be aware, but Blaine is quite the infamous character in the legal world. They call him

a rogue lawyer."

"When | say rogue, | mean he's willing to do whatever it takes to win. His wins are often unexpected, and his

methods aren't exactly above board. He shot to fa few years back, especially after that notorious French

inheritance case."

"The wealthiest man in France had nine sons, and Blaine backed this low-key illegitimate one. He helped him

outmaneuver all the legitimate heirs, and in the end, that illegitimate son snagged the inheritance. That's how

Blaine made his name.

"Nobody knows much about his background-it's supposed to be really tangled. People like him are dangerous.

How on earth did Mrs. Everett get mixed up with someone like that?"

Bradley, coming from a top-tier law school, wasn't scared of tough opponents, but he dreaded those who ignored

the rules, exploited loopholes, and skirted the edges of legality.

It's like a scholar running into a street fighter-completely mismatched!

Everett's brow furrowed as he picked up the file, staring hard at Blaine's photo.

It was the guy who had dropped Selena hlast night!

The way he looked at Selena was anything but casual.

Everett's hand clenched tightly around the papers.

As the evening wore on, the sky was painted with a fiery sunset.

Selena picked up her son and got back hto find Everett already there.

He stood by the large window in the living room, hands shoved in his pockets, brow furrowed, his profile tense

and sharp.

Mateo ran over, shouting, "Daddy!"

Everett snapped out of his thoughts, his expression softening a bit when he saw his son. He crouched down to

hug him, asking gently about his day at school.

Mateo adored his dad, wrapping his little arms around Everett's neck, eager to share his day's stories. Selena put

her bag down and headed to the kitchen for a glass of water.

Ava cover, giving her a quick update, "Ma'am, Mr. Everett cback this afternoon. He seemed pretty

upset, though I'm not sure why."

She was sharp enough to steer clear he was truly angry,

of Everett

but she cared about her mistress

and felt she should give a heads-up.

Selena nodded, "Thanks for lettingknow."

She figured the divorce papers had probably arrived. His mood was understandable.

Just then, Mateo bounded over, looking up at her. "Mommy, Daddy wants to see you. He's waiting in the garden!"

Selena always treated her son with warmth.

She smiled and said, "Alright, let Ava help you get changed and wash up. Dinner will be ready soon." Mateo

nodded obediently.

When Selena stepped outside, she

found Everett standing by a flowerbed. The setting sun cast a long shadow, bathing him in a warm glow that

made him look like something out of a painting.

To her, though, he was just a handsfacade wasted on a scoundrel.

Everett turned suddenly, his dark eyes meeting hers from afar.

His gaze was soft, but Selena's was icy.

For a woman, letting go of a relationship is tough, but once she's done, it's over.

Everett could see it, feeling a sharp pang in his chest.

But there were more pressing matters to deal with.

His voice was rough as he spoke, "Selena, how do you know Blaine anyway?"

He had asked the squestion the night before out of jealousy, but this time, Selena could tell he was

genuinely concerned.

Even so, she didn't feel any need to answer.

Having decided to separate and divorce, her business was no longer his concern.
