Bracing her hands against his chest, she gently pushed him back. "Zeke, what are you doing?" Zeke looked at her, his face flushed, partly from embarrassment and partly from hope.

"Something I've been wanting to do ever since I met you," he whispered, feeling breathless from how hard his heart was pounding.

He studied her, trying to gauge her emotions, but what he found wasn't what he expected.

"You don't even look that surprised," he said with a short, awkward chuckle. "Was I that bad at hiding my feelings for you?" "Zeke..." Thalassa began, fumbling for the right words.

She hadn't expected Zeke to kiss her, nor had she ever thought he saw her as anything more than a friend. Yet, strangely, she didn't feel entirely shocked. It was as if her mind had pieced together his past reactions and behaviors towards her, and everything finally clicked.

"I know this might sound crazy, but I think I've loved you since the first day we met," Zeke whispered. Thalassa managed a small smile. "Yes, that does sound crazy because the first twe met, you accusedof hurting Granny." Zeke winced. "Don't remindof what a jerk I was to tou. But you said you forgave me, didn't you? I didn't know you were so good at holding small grudges." He chuckled, and Thalassa smiled. Then his expression turned serious as he gazed into her eyes, stepping closer to her.

"On a more serious note, maybe it didn't happen that night. Honestly, I don't even know when it happened. I just realized that by the tyour month with us was up, I didn't want to be away from you. I wanted to see you every day, with a need that took my breath away." He slowly raised his hand, hesitating before placing his palm against her cheek. She stiffened but didn't push it away.

"I never told you how I felt because you were so closed off. I knew you would reject me. And I knew you carried so much pain, pain that could only be eased by ge Thatt justice for the twin you lost. That's why I stayed silent all these years-because I wanted to wait until you got that justice." He dragged in a deep breath. "But not anymore Now that you're finally getting that justice, I can't hide my feelings any longer. Thalassa, if you givea chance, I'll spend the rest of my life making you the happiest woman in the world. You and Alex-you know how much I love I that boy." He waited for her to respond, barely breathing.

"I'm sorry, Zeke. But I can't." She stepped back, but he held onto her hand. "Just like that? Please, givethe chance to make you happy, Thalassa. Letprove that I deserve you." She shook her head slowly. "I'm sorry. I don't want to hurt you, Zeke. But I don't feel the sway." Despite the sharp pain that pierced his heart, Zeke managed a small smile. "Not even a tiny, teeny little bit?" Thalassa sighed. "You're a wonderful man, and I care about you, but—" "I'll stop you right there and say that's more than enough for me," Zeke interrupted, a grin spreading across his face as hope sparked inside him. "I know I dropped this on you suddenly, and I don't expect an answer right now, but I believe twill help."

He could barely contain his excitement. She hadn't hadn't said no m directly which to him meant there was still a chance. "So this is the part where I start sending you flowers and texting you about how can't stop thinking about you, day and night, and begging you to go on dates withme." He chuckled before his ↓

expression turned serious, his eyes pleading. "Please, Thalassa, I hope you can givethat chance." Not knowing how to feel, Thalassa just shook her head in mock exasperation.

"Oh yes, I'm very persistent. But you already knew that, didn't you?" Zeke smirked. "I'll see you later? With a wink, he turned and left, leaving O Thalassa staring after him with a sigh.
