Chapter 492 Seeking the Truth
The media always had a unified response: they captured exactly what they saw.
"Emily, don't stress, there are always other ways."
With that, Penelope pulled up the news article on her phone again and handed it to Emily.
Emily took the phone, carefully browsing through each photo and description, trying to find any clues.
She finally spotted a familiar figure in one of the photos. "Her again?"
Penelope asked. "Who is it?"
Emily's eyelids trembled slightly, her brows furrowed, her voice low and tinged with a hint of coldness. "Sophia,
my sister.
"Your sister, oh, | get it, your half-sister! How could she? Could it be..." Penelope's hesitation said it all.
Emily's fingers trembled slightly, a complex mix of emotions surging in her heart. Could this be Sophia's way of
getting back at her?
A trap she deliberately set?
But why target Michael?
Sophia had genuinely loved him once!
Emily's mind was filled with doubts as she recalled Sophia's past words and actions, then thought of her and
Dean.
Soon, a flash of insight hit Emily, and she found Dean's blurry figure in the report.
Sure enough, it was the two of them!
"Penelope, this morning's meeting..."

"You don't need to attend, Emily. | know Michael is the father of your child, you should do something for him."
Emily nodded, grateful for Penelope's understanding.
She stood up, and under Penelope's instructions, took one of the company's Audi A6s to Archibald's house.
Taking a deep breath, she made a silent vow to uncover the truth and clear Michael's
name.
As the scenery outside the car window flew by, Emily's heart grew heavier.
She recalled her moments with Michael.
Those warm and cold memories surged like a tide, strengthening her resolve to uncover the truth.
Not for anything else, not for Michael's gratitude.
Emily believed he shouldn't be entangled in such slander.
The Smith Group, Veda, Mason shouldn't have to pay for their grudges.
She was involved, so she had to step up.
Even if Michael never knew, she would bear what she should.
Emily knocked on Archibald's door, greeted by a woman in her forties.
She seemed to be the housekeeper.
Archibald lived alone, yet had a housekeeper, which surprised Emily.
It was her first visit; she only knew Archibald's address from casual conversation.
The housekeeper, Kassy Perez, looked at Emily curiously, and Emily politely explained her visit.
"Hi, I'm Emily Brown. I'm here to see Mr. Lancaster. Is he home?"
Emily? Kassy seemed to have heard that nbefore.
Maybe from Archibald and Celeste's chats? Or Archibald and Dean's arguments?
Regardless, Kassy politely invited her in, silently speculating about Emily's relationship with Archibald.
"Mr. Lancaster went out to buy something. He wanted schicken soup this morning, but I'm from Skyview
City! I don't know how to make those bland dishes!"
"But Mr. Lancaster calledearlier, saying there's no chicken soup available outside at this hour, so he asked
shortly!"
Kassy scratched her head, a bit embarrassed.
Emily looked at her, noticing her slightly plump figure and honest, kind smile.
Kassy's simplicity warmed Emily's heart, and she smiled in return.
"Do you have ingredients at home?"
"What?" Kassy didn't understand why Emily asked that.
Emily stood up, her noticeably pregnant belly quite prominent.
Kassy glanced at it occasionally, already having sguesses but not voicing them.
Emily explained softly, "Mr. Lancaster and | are friends. Don't worry, | just want to help him make schicken
soup. And | have something to ask him.
"Don't worry, | cook often at hdespite being pregnant. You can help me. And maybe you can learn to make it
for Mr. Lancaster in the future."
Emily was truly kind, beautiful, and down-to-earth, without any airs of wealth. Kassy nodded, a hint of admiration
in her eyes, and led Emily to the kitchen. "Miss Brown, watch your step."

After about ten minutes, the aroma of chicken soup filled the air. Emily skillfully stirred the chicken in the pot.
Kassy praised, ;"Miss Brown, you're really talented."
Emily smiled, but her mind was clearly elsewhere.
She was preoccupied with thoughts of Michael.
But worrying wouldn't help. Emily knew her own strength was limited, and she didn't want to confront Michael
directly. Since this involved Dean and Sophia, Archibald was the best lead.
With that in mind, Emily's eyelids trembled. She took a deep breath, hiding her thoughts, and continued gently
stirring the soup. Soon, Archibald returned.
Archibald was, of course, surprised to see Emily, whom he had been thinking about day and night, at his home.
He stood at the door, stunned, until Kassy's reminder brought him back to reality.
"Mr. Lancaster, you're back! Miss Brown is here! She heard you wanted chicken soup
and decided to cook it herself! She even kindly taughthow to make it!"
"I've learned it now! Mr. Lancaster, you'll never have to worry about not having chicken soup again!"
Kassy took Archibald's coat and went to the entryway to tidy up.
The kitchen was left with just Archibald and Emily. Archibald still looked at Emily in disbelief.
Emily noticed and smiled slightly. "What? Don't recognize me?"
Archibald snapped out of it and shook his head. "I just didn't expect you to cin person." Archibald's words
made Emily laugh. Emily asked curiously, "What do you mean by 'in person'?"
Realizing his slip of the tongue, Archibald quickly explained.
"| didn't mean it that way. | just meant..." He trailed off, scratching his head
awkwardly. "I just didn't expect you to show up suddenly. It's a pleasant surprise."
It felt like a spring breeze bringing life to a withered tree-a reward for his silent efforts.
