Chapter 11 Nancy felt an invisible pair of hands squeezing her heart when her gaze landed on Cyrus' face. Before she could have a moment to calm herself, Cyrus let out a cold, cruel laugh. "What, you want to fight for Nancy's affection when she's in my arms? Go ahead. After all, someone else has taken advantage of her, and I haven't even touched her yet." Nancy's pupils shrank drastically, feeling like her whole body was in an ice-cold cellar, her breathing momentarily halting. She had suspected that Cyrus' heart was not with her, but how could he expose her deepest fears and humiliation before everyone? That was a dark chapter of her childhood! Tears filled Nancy's eyes as she looked at Cyrus and saw only contempt on his handsface. Pain surged through her heart, causing her straight posture to slump.

Overwhelmed by her emotions, Nancy turned and ran out of the room.

The room fell into stunned silence, everyone shocked by Cyrus' words.

Looking at Cyrus' icy face, Norton sobered up considerably. Recalling Cyrus' harsh words, he couldn't help but say, "Cyrus, that was a bit much. Even if someone else has taken advantage of Nancy, it wasn't her choice." Before Cyrus and Nancy were an item, someone had once remarked, 'Nancy's got a slim waist, must be a delight in bed.' Cyrus had lost it, beating the guy to a pulp. If it weren't for the Gordon family's wealth, Cyrus would have probably spent that Christmas behind bars.

As Cyrus fixed a cold glare on Norton, he asked in an icy calm tone, "Pitying Nancy? Got a soft spot for her too?" Norton's face drained of color as he hastily shook his head. "No, that's not what I meant." The room was heavy with tension when Baldrick suddenly stood up. All eyes, including Cyrus', turned to him. As Baldrick's gaze met Cyrus', the air seemed to fill with the smell of gunpowder.

With a slight purse of his lips, Baldrick's gentle eyes sharpened. "Cyrus, you said it yourself. If you despise her, I don't. So, please, do Nancy a favor and divorce her." Hayley's eyes sparkled with glee upon hearing Baldrick's words, but her smile froze as she looked toward Cyrus, waiting to see his enraged expression.

Cyrus responded coldly, "Baldrick, have you got a death wish?" The murderous aura emanating from Cyrus was palpable, chilling the air around them. Anyone else would have cowered, but Baldrick remained calm, undisturbed by the threat. "I'd prefer to live so I can see you and Nancy go your separate ways." Cyrus was livid.

Norton was left speechless, completely taken aback by the revelation that Baldrick had feelings for Nancy. Regardless of Cyrus' feelings toward Nancy, she was still his wife. And few men could tolerate another coveting their spouse.

In a fit of rage, Cyrus pushed Hayley off his lap and threw a punch at Baldrick.

Outside, the sky had begun to drizzle at spoint.

Not wanting to stay in the car, Nancy aimlessly walked the streets, letting the rain soak her body and hair. The rain grew heavier, pròmpting many to seek shelter, but Nancy, seemingly unaware, continued her aimless stroll like a caged bird that had lost its way home.

The night grew darker, intending to swallow her whole. The coldness of the rain on her skin, skin couldn't compare in to the chill Cyrus words had left in her heart. 'If you like her, go ahead. After all, someone else has taken advantage of her, and I haven't even touched her yet.' With tears in her eyes, Nancy felt like an invisible knife thrust deep into her heart, a knife she had handed to Cyrus.

Then, a light appeared before her. It was a cozy diner, where she and m Cyrus had once frequented. When looking at a table by the window, memories of sitting there with Cyrus flooded back. He gazed at her angrily and concernedly, saying, "Nancy, do you seeas just a brute? Do you know how much I wish to travel back in tto protect you?"
