Chapter 14 On the first day of summer break, she sipped the milk passed to her by her uncle through marriage. As she awaited clarity, she found her clothes stripped away.

The man gazed at her with voracity, "Awake so soon? Well, that's fine, you little temptress. Did you know I wanted you the moment I saw you?" With that, he lunged toward the girl on the bed.

"No... don't... get away..." Nancy twisted in pain, murmuring in her sleep, "Get away..." Yet, the twisted face of her uncle in her dream morphed into Cyrus' handsbut disdainful visage.

"She's been taken advantage of. If you like her, go after her!" Tears streamed down Nancy's face. She longed to confront Cyrus about his treatment.

But before she could speak, Cyrus harshly pushed her to the ground.

Wrapping his arm around Hayley, Cyrus laughed arrogantly. "Nancy, open your eyes and see. I stopped loving you long ago. My heart belongs to Hayley. You're a pitiful creature. No one would love you." Nancy's face was twisted in agony, her pillow soaked with tears, yet her eyes remained shut.

She murmured intermittently in her sleep, "Cyrus..." Cyrus, who had just entered, saw Nancy in bed, her face flushed and contorted in pain.

He was hit by instant panic as he rushed over. "Nancy, what's wrong? Damn, you have a fever!" Cradling Nancy, he shouted, "Get the car ready! Why didn't anyone tellmy wife has been feverish all night!" Startled by the shouting, Nancy barely opened her eyes to see Cyrus hovering over her, his face etched with genuine worry and panic.

Cyrus reassured her, "Nancy, don't be scared. You have a fever. I'm taking you to the hospital now." Nancy's mind grew more muddled, catching the scent of Hayley's perfon Cyrus. She wanted to push him away, but her eyelids grew heavy, and she passed out again before she could react.

"Nancy!" When Nancy finally opened her eyes again, it was two days later.

Seeing Nancy awake, the nurse exclaimed joyfully, "Mrs. Gordon, you're finally awake. Mr. Gordon has been by your side for two days and nights. He just stepped out for a smoke. Shall I call him in?" "No need!" Nancy said instinctively, "I need stto think alone." Though the nurse didn't understand why, she nodded, "Okay, Mrs. Gordon. If you feel unwell, press the bell on the wall, and I'll cright in." With that, she left the room.

Once the nurse was gone, silence filled the room. Nancy felt the m weaknes's coming after an illness, barely managing to sit up.

Cyrus' deep voice suddenly echoed from outside, filled with immense surprise "You're kidding? Okay, wait En there. I'll cright now!"

Soon after, Nancy heard Cyrus leaving. The last tNancy heard Cyrus this happy was on their wedding day. Cyrus joyfully spun her around. "Nancy, from now on, you're my wife, belonging only to me." Feeling an inexplicable unease, Nancy lifted the covers and got out of bed to follow him.

Outside the maternity ward, Nancy watched Cyrus support Hayley, walking out, her face turning pale. Hayley was pregnant!
