Chapter 32 "Then please, let Cyrus off the hook for me. Consider it repaying a favor." Nancy thought desperately, but she knew Wilma well. Wilma would never let Cyrus divorce her. And Cyrus wouldn't agree to it, either. So, she had no choice but to leave in a drastic manner like that.

Cyrus stood outside the door with an inscrutable look in his eyes. He should have felt relieved, but instead, his heart felt inexplicably heavy, as if Nancy had uncovered something.

But if Nancy had known about the issues between him and Hayley, she would have asked for a divorce by then, not continue to profess her love for him! So, was Nancy just testing his mother? Next, he would have to hide Hayley better. Cyrus thought with a heavy heart, and without going in to get the documents, he turned around and left.

Hours later, Nancy, Cyrus, and Wilma had lunch at the company. Wilma found an excuse to leave while Cyrus was busy with work. Nancy, bored, sat in Cyrus' office.

Suddenly, her phone pinged.

It was a message from Hayley.

[Hayley: Feeling pretty smug, aren't you, Nancy? But don't get too comfortable. Believe it or not, with one call from me, Cyrus will ditch your dinner plans tonight.] Nancy scoffed, brushing off Hayley's attempt to provoke her.

Back on the other end, seeing Nancy hadn't responded, Hayley grew even more furious and was about to smash her phone when it suddenly rang.

Without thinking, Hayley answered, "Who is this?" The next second, Wilma's icy voice cthrough, chilling to the bone. "Tell me, whose child are you carrying, Norton's or Cyrus'?" At six in the evening, when Cyrus and Nancy walked into Orion Solutions, the company's head, Ogden, couldn't help but linger his gaze on Nancy.

"Mr. Gordon, you and Mrs. Gordon are quite the match. I thought for a moment an angelic couple had descended among us." Nancy eyed the chubby man with a slick comb-over and beady eyes that couldn't hide his cunning. For sreason, Nancy found herself disliking this type of person.

Pleased by the compliment, Cyrus responded, "Mr. Ogden, you sure you haven't dabbled in showbiz? That's music to my ears." Ogden chuckled, nodding, "I only speak the truth. Please, let's sit and have dinner. We can discuss the contract afterward. Mr. Gordon, I'd love you to try this wine. Tellwhat you think." Cyrus didn't immediately agree, instead turning to Nancy. "Nancy, may I?" Nancy was at a loss for words.

Ogden exaggeratedly exclaimed, "My God, Mr. Gordon, you're under the thumb! People say a man who listens to his wife will prosper. Ah, Mr. Gordon, I think I've discovered your secret to success." "As long as you know," Cyrus glanced at Ogden, then turned back to Nancy, the epitof a devoted husband.

Nancy didn't want to play along. "Go ahead. Have a few drinks with Mr. Ogden and focus on the contract." They almost had the deal settled that morning. It was just a formality then.

Cyrus nodded, finally turning back to Ogden.

The two of them clinked glasses and talked business. Nancy watched as Cyrus, unyielding in negotiations, displayed his sharp acumen.

Regardless of whether Cyrus had changed his feelings for her, at least his business prowess remained intact.

Toward the end, Ogden seemed frustrated, "Fine, we'll do it your way, Mr. Gordon Let's finish this bottle, and I'll sign." Seeing them drink again, Nancy excused herself to the restroom for a break.

Twenty minutes later, thinking Ogden and Cyrus had finished their drinks and signed the contract, Nancy returned. However, when she entered, only to find Ogden alone, a sudden unease washed over her.

Ogden's gaze turned bold, especially as he looked at Nancy's flawless face. Despite her bright and captivating features, her eyes were pure and clear, a mix of innocence and allure.

Ogden's thoughts ran wild as he said, "Mrs. Gordon, please take a seat. Mr. Gordon had to step out for a company emergency. He said you should sign the contract with me."
