Chapter 69 Lenard tripped over his words to fill Nancy in on the Sandro Group. "Nancy, this past year, the Sandro Group has been the dark horse of Ardenweald, bursting onto the scene out of nowhere. They might not have hosted many events, but each has been a hit, and their jewelry line has skyrocketed to top-tier status." "And get this," he leaned in, whispering, "I heard through the grapevine that the big boss of the Sandro Group is the sguy running Lumina Corporation in Starfield City." There was no need to elaborate on the Lumina Corporation, the big kahuna of Starfield City, dabbling in everything from entertainment to real estate, not to mention their leading edge in Al technology. Nancy narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. If the head of the Sandro Group was the CEO of Lumina Corporation, a collaboration could be a golden opportunity.
Lenard clenched his fists, his passion evident. "Nancy, you've been through the wringer with that jerk. It's tto claim your glory." It was tto claim your glory.
Listening to Lenard, Nancy couldn't help but smile faintly. "You're right. But what makes you sure the Sandro Group would want to collaborate with me?" Lenard seemed almost offended by the question. "Why wouldn't they want to work with you? The Sandro Group dropped hints they've seen your jewelry designs. Why else would I set this up?" He paused, eyeing her with concern. "Nancy, please don't tellyou've been gaslit by that loser. Damn, you're the most talented designer I've ever met. The only reason why our mentor's ahead is that he's been at it longer. But skill-wise? You're unmatched." Nancy raised an eyebrow. "Would the mentor appreciate you talking about him like that?" "He won't know if you don't tell him," Lenard smirked naughtily, rubbing his nose. "Nancy, have confidence in yourself. Remember, it's their loss if they don't collaborate with you. They're too savvy to pass up a profitable opportunity." That damned loser did a number on Nancy! The more Lenard thought about it, the angrier he got. "Anyway, be ready to meet with the Sandro Group's boss in two days. It's settled then!" Nancy nodded slightly. "Sure." "I'm off to see Winnie now. I've wondered if she missedthese past few days." Lenard's impatience was palpable.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtNancy quirked an eyebrow. "Still into Winnie?" "Of course! Wait till I win her over, then I'll treat you to celebration chocolates," Lenard beamed, finally turning to leave.
The door slammed shut behind him.
Nancy's smile faded as she sat back in her chair. Whether it was Lenard, Winnie, or even Orlando, they all seemed to think Cyrus had manipulated her, and it stung more than she expected.
Maybe he had. After all, Cyrus had seen her designs, praised her talent, yet insisted she should devote herself entirely to being a housewife.
Thinking back, she wondered if she'd lost her mind. But at least she woke up early, or she'd still be at home, playing the devoted housewife to Cyrus.
The door creaked open again.
A tender voice, tinged with vulnerability, drifted in. "Babe, can I cin?" Looking up, Nancy saw Judson peeking through the door, his eyes slightly red. He looked like a man who knew his wife was cheating but was too scared to confront it.
Nancy just stared.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmA bit miffed but seeing no outright rejection, Judson stepped in, carrying coffee.
He deliberately showed Nancy his reddened hand as he set the coffee before her.
Nancy's lips twitched in amusement, though she saw a plea in Judson's eyes for her to ask what happened.
With a sigh of resignation, she bit. "What happened?"
"Got burned. The thought of you with another man scares me," Judson's voice broke, Nandy, youn's wouldn't leaveonly because I lost our memories, would you?"
Nancy's expression remained unchanged. "No, but I wouldn't keep you even if you had your memories." Judson deflated. Nancy's slight smile returned as she watched him sulk. "Stop it. Lenard's into Winnie, not me. No need for jealousy." Judson's face lit up, though a touch of discomfort soon followed. "Nancy, my hand hurts."
"Then don't hurt yourself for attention again." Nancy frowned but reached for an ice pack from her drawer. "Judson, seeking attention through self-harm isn't something I appreciate. Not at all." If one couldn't respect himself enough to avoid self-injury for attention, such a twisted view of affection was better left alone.
