Chapter 75 Nancy barely concealed her discomfort and replied, "That's not what I meant." "Well, hop in then. Lenard was around earlier. It wasn't the tto talk," Baldrick said, sliding into the car with a swift motion that spoke of his athleticism.

Left with no choice, Nancy followed, taking her seat in the silence that followed the car door's sharp closure.

"Where do you live, Nancy?" asked Baldrick.

"Pinecrest Estates." Only then did Baldrick give the driver a nod. "Let's go." With apparent caution, the driver set the vehicle in motion, and a hush fell over the spacious interior. As Nancy stared out the window, lost in the view, she suddenly felt someone watching her. Without turning around, she caught Baldrick's reflection in the glass, and his gaze was more intense and eager than she'd ever seen.

Feeling a chill, she turned to meet his eyes, her expression cold. "Thanks for the ride home, Baldrick." Baldrick detected the distance in her voice, feeling a twinge of hurt, but his face remained impassive. "Don't mention it. Even if you weren't my junior, you're my partner." Nancy acknowledged this with a slight nod.

Baldrick then asked what he'd been dying to know since he saw her. "How have you been these past few days?" "I've been good. Stay away from the wrong things and people. Everything's good." "Indeed," Baldrick observed Nancy's healthy complexion and relaxed demeanor, convinced she was speaking the truth.

Something stirred in him, and he spoke with a hint of mystery, "Nancy, you askedto delete the surveillance footage at the party. Yet, Cyrus never approachedfor it." Nancy's fingers curled slightly, her tone mocking as she laughed, "Then it's good he didn't." It seemed she had been overthinking. To Cyrus, she was always the one at fault.

Seeing her sarcastic facade but not sensing sadness, Baldrick felt relieved.

Continuing, he revealed, "You did the right thing by disappearing. Cyrus has gone mad looking for you." Nancy's gaze flickered, catching on to something amiss. "He found out?" "Yes. Everyone thought you had run away at first. But Cyrus turned Sunhaven upside down looking for you, even going through your old countryside haunts, to no avail." Nancy scoffed, annoyed, "Then he should just stop looking." "It's not that easy, Nancy." Baldrick's voice carried a complex undertone, "You know Cyrus would eventually find out about your disappearance." Nancy didn't deny it, only facing Baldrick. "So, what if Cyrus found out I'm gone?" "He got into a fight with Norton, ended up in jail a few days ago, detained for a week." Nancy was incredulous. "Weren't he and Norton close?" "They were, but Norton brought a woman who looked much like you to Cyrus. Cyrus isn't stupid. He knew Norton had a thing for you."

A chill flickered in Baldrick's eyes as he said, "So, it's all over town that Cyrus has lost it the Gordon and Patel families are officially at each other's throats now." Nancy's eyes narrowed, her laugh bitter. "Psycho." She found both Cyrus and Norton revolting.

Hearing her curse, Baldrick agreed, "Exactly. Seeing you away from Cyrus is a relief."

His voice softened, tinged with е concern. "Back then seeing Cyrus' deceive you, I was always worried you'd stay because of your attachment to him, deepening your hurt."

He still remembered Nancy wandering in the rain, her face etched ке with indelible sorrow. Unnoticed by them, the car had stopped outside a grand villa.
