Chapter 10 By the tWren had finished packing, it was already midnight. His phone placed beside the bed had zero messages and calls. Wren felt slightly frustrated, and he wanted to text Clara. Just then, his phone lit up with the notification of a text.

Suddenly, Wren felt relieved. He quickly retrieved the phone, curious to find out what Clara had texted him.

The second he saw the contents of the text, a look of disappointment and chilly indifference took over his expression. The text was from Ivy, asking what tthey were flying the next day.

Instead of replying, Wren tapped on his chat history with Clara, which stopped at the last text from her in the afternoon.

"If you're busy, you can cover later. I'll wait for you," she wrote.

During that time, he was picking up the custom-made gowns with Ivy. She caught a glimpse of the text when he was about to reply, so he made a few excuses and put the phone away. After that, he forgot all about it.

Wren scrolled through the chat history. Most of the messages were from Clara, while the rest were short, dismissive replies from him.

Back then, Clara noticed his change and even asked him about it. Despite feeling miserable, she still forced a smile.

"Wren, are you busy at work? If you are, you don't have to reply all the time. I'll be happy enough if you reply occasionally." Wren's gaze darkened as he recalled his answer back then. "Clara, you're really annoying. Can you stop sendingthose useless texts?" The sparkle in Clara's eyes vanished instantly. Since then, she rarely looked for him.

Wren held onto his phone with a solemnity in his eyes. Just then, something crossed his mind. He finally put his phone down without sending any texts.

At midnight, Wren was awakened by a terrifying dream. In it, Clara kept walking forward without looking back. Right when she was about to disappear into the fog, she stopped and looked at him coldly. "I'm giving up on you, Wren. Let's not get involved in each other's lives anymore." The dream was so real that when Wren woke up, he felt extremely uneasy. He could not comprehend why he was having such a dream. In fact, he found it absurd and ridiculous. After all, he was the one who brought Clara up. It was impossible that she wanted to have nothing to do with him anymore.

After regaining his composure, Wren got up and took a cold shower. He felt refreshed instantly.

Since it was only 5:00 am, he went downstairs to get a glass of water. Catching a glimpse of the room at the end of the corridor, he hesitated for a moment before walking over.

The room was so small that one could see everything at a glance. Wren scrutinized the room with a frown. Suddenly, his expression changed, as if he had noticed something.
